Precautions for Endoscopy

Before the examination: Before undergoing an endoscopy, patients need to follow their doctor's instructions to prepare. For example, fasting for 6-8 hours is required before a gastroscopy, and bowel preparation is needed before a colonoscopy, including taking a laxative to empty the bowels. Patients also need to inform their doctor of their medical history, allergies, and other relevant information.

 

After the examination: After the examination, patients need to rest. If a biopsy or treatment procedure was performed, fasting may be required for a period of time. Patients should also carefully monitor their symptoms, noting any abnormalities such as abdominal pain or rectal bleeding, and inform their doctor immediately if any discomfort occurs.
